This barrel-aged version of our Gingerbread Milk Stout is a blend of a batch that was aged for six months, in two 200L charred-oak, ex-whisk(e)y casks from Speyside Cooperage.
The first barrel had previously held 3 fills of Aberlour Single Malt Scotch Whisky, this wood has added notes to the beer of sherried raisins and hints of toffee.
The second cask was a single fill, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The staves of this barrel have enhanced the cinnamon flavours of the base beer, and imparted spicy and sweet caramel notes, as well as hints of creamy toffee eclairs, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard and oily espresso beans.
